About the Armory
The Armory has a rich history in North Boulder. It began over 50 years ago. The site has been used by the Colorado National Guard as a training facility and storage depot. When it was built, most of North Boulder was undeveloped and primarily agricultural land.
The growth of Boulder has been significant over the last 50 years. North Boulder has undergone tremendous change in the last 15 years, including the area immediately surrounding the Armory. The Colorado National Guard has determined that the current Armory site is undersized and poorly configured to accommodate the unit that is currently assigned to it, and therefore, determined that the Armory must be relocated.
The Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs made a decision to exchange the property for a more favorable location that would better meet the needs of the Colorado national Guard, thereby allowing new uses for the Armory site that will be a better fit for the surrounding local community.
